- Additional crushed Oreo cookies for decoration
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the buttermilk. Begin and end with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
- Gently fold in the crushed Oreo cookies (without the cream filling) into the batter.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pans and smooth the top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for about 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- In a medium bowl, beat together the softened butter, powdered sugar, cocoa powder, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
- Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of frosting on top and sprinkle some crushed Oreo cookies.
- Place the second cake layer on top and frost the entire cake with the remaining frosting.
- Decorate the top of the cake with additional crushed Oreo cookies.
- Slice and serve your delicious Oreo cake.
